Local Agenda 21

  • Coordination the Agenda 21 process based on ICLEI’s methodology, for the municipality of Grândola, that signed Aalborg Commitments on June 2010. Development of the first stage including planning and executing stakeholders’ workshops (2011).

Sustainability Programs for Parks

  • Developing guidelines to promote the use of a city park, through city surveying for assessing attitudes towards a city park and park use by local citizens (2012)
  • Developing a program to promote local identity on Ecopark (a national park to be created in Morocco). It implied to cross local identity and local heritage with architecture, economy, and training. (2010)*

Sustainability Programs for Touristic Sites

  • Development of Social Sustainability Plan for a touristic site in Mariganha-Pemba, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique (2013)*
  • Development of Sustainable Mobility Plan for a touristic site in Mariganha-Pemba, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique (2013)*
  • Development of a Plan to Design for Users, which provided some master guidelines for the designing team for the Aparthotel Praia dos Moinhos Resort (2006).
  • Developing the Plan of Heritage and Environmental awareness paths for Aparthotel Praia dos Moinhos Resort (2006).
  • Development of Integrated Behavioral Plans and Programs of support to the water, waste and energy Plans for Aldeamento do Pinheirinho, under the scope of WWF’s One Planet Living program (2004-2005).
  • Development of Sustainable Transport Plan and Program for Aldeamento do Pinheirinho, under the scope of WWF’s One Planet Living program, including the impact assessment regarding emissions for benchmark cenario and OPL cenario (considering the proposals for different transport modes and different fuels, and several travel destinations) and its im-portance for Zero Carbon Plan (2004-2005).
  • Development of Plans and Programs for Local Economy Program for Aldeamento do Pinheirinho, under the scope of WWF’s One Planet Living program, including estimating the needs of the site and the assessment of the local capacity to supply it. Also developed a program to certify small producers (2004-2005).
  • Development of Heritage Plan and Program Program for Aldeamento do Pinheirinho, under the scope of WWF’s One Planet Living program, including analysis of local identity, culture and heritage. Some actions were proposed intending to spread local identity (2004-2005).
  • Development of Quality of Life Plan and Program Program for Aldeamento do Pinheirinho, under the scope of WWF’s One Planet Living program, including space design (considering different needs of different users and low mobility users) and services’ participated assessment (2004-2005).
  • Development of Integrated Behavioral Plans and Programs of support to the water, waste and energy Plans for Empreendimento Turístico da Mata de Sesimbra Sul, under the scope of WWF’s One Planet Living program (2003-2005).

Water

  • RESILENS – International Project funded by European Commission under Horizon 2020 program. This project aims to de-fine guidelines and training programs for enhancing the resilience of critical infra-structures, including water infra-structure (2015-2018).
  • Capacity building at Conselho de Regulação de Águas (CRA) - the Mozambican Regulation Body on Water sector for an-nual assessment of water consumers’ satisfaction in Mozambique, requiring tools development and training of CRA Local Officers (2015).*
  • Evaluation of the water supply services on major 6 cities in Mozambique: Pemba, Nampula, Tete, Quelimane, Inhambane and Xai-Xai; for Conselho de Regulação de Águas (CRA) - the Mozambican Regulation Body on Water sector (2014).*

Health - Social Impact Assessment Studies of Health Facilities

  • Environmental Impact Assessment of the Integrated Center for Hospital Waste Management and Treatment: responsible for managing the Environmental Impact Assessment team and for the Social Impact Assessment (2013).
  • Impact Assessment of the new Hospital of Braga: responsible for the Social Impact Assessment and the Hospital Waste Study, for Procesl (2008).

Resilience

  • International Project funded by European Commission under Horizon 2020 program. This project aims to de-fine guidelines and training programs for enhancing the resilience of critical infra-structures (2015-2018).

  • Development of Health and Safety Plan for SASOL’s Social Impact Assessment Fieldwork (2015)*
  • Development of the Internal Emergency Plan for Meridian 32 group (2015)*
  • Environmental Impact Assessment of the Integrated Center for Hospital Waste Management and Treatment: facilitator for the team of Risk Assessment (2013).
  • Development of the guidelines on road safety for the Handbook of Environmental Impact Assessment to ANE – Autoridade Nacional de Estradas in Mozambique (2012)*
  • Development of checklists to support the design for Road Safety measures on a project; and development of grids to check that Road Safety measures were performed. Project developed for Estradas de Portugal (2009).
  • Definition of the Road Safety measures to be included on the requalification project for National Road 125 in Algarve (2009).
  • Environmental Impact Assessment of SECIL’s cement factory in Setúbal about co-incineration: facilitator for the team of Risk Assessment (2008).
  • Road Safety guidelines for sustainable mobility project of Pinheirinho (2004-2005)

  • Environmental Impact Assessment of Central de Ciclo Combinado de Sines: coordinator for the team of Risk Assessment (2004).

Risk Communication and Communities’ Engagement

  • Facilitator (developer and supporter) of a Municipal Citizens’ Environmental Committee for the process of co-incineration in CIMPOR at Vila Franca de Xira (started at April 2008 and is still running)
  • Team Coordinator at the Project Environmental Communication and Awareness at Secil-Outão, including the assessment of Project success (2005-2013)
  • Coordination and support to the facilitator of a Municipal Citizens’ Environmental Committee for a Mota-Engil quarry at Vila Franca de Xira (2008–2011)
  • Coordinating the development of a set of four books and CD’s of Road Safety for preschool aged children (2007 – 2009).
  • Research on Consumers’ Risk Perception on meat during ‘mad cows’ disease crisis in Europe for University of Lisbon (2001)

  • Support to Health & Safety training for KPMG in Mozambique (2015)*
  • Training on Risk Communication for CIP Institute Crisis Management Master Classes in Antwerp and Roterdam (2013)
  • Development, Certification and coordination of a training course on Risk Communication for revalidating Health & Safety professionals’ certification (2006-2009)
